UK Webhosting Ltd was founded in 2003 as a provider of reliable, affordable internet services consisting of shared hosting, dedicated hosting, domain registration and consultancy. With an enthusiastic team and strong management the company has gone from strength to strength over the past 5 years enjoying strong organic growth. Through this and our acquisition of other companies we host in excess of 20,000 websites across our shared and dedicated hosting platforms on our UK servers.
The company remains employee owned with almost all of the shares being held by current staff who customers deal with on a day to day basis. We don't employ call centre "robots". Our business model and ethos haven't changed since the company was founded with our primary focus continuing to be on maintaining absolute customer satisfaction through sustainable pricing, proactively managed services and investment in hosting infrastructure.
In October 2007 UK Webhosting Ltd moved the majority of its hosting infrastructure to a brand new private datacentre suite just outside London. From this location we enjoy 10 Gigabits per second connectivity back to London Docklands. It is also situated just minutes from our offices so that, in the event of any problems, technical staff can be on-site almost immediately. This is in stark contrast to many of our competitors who might be based hundreds of miles from their infrastructure and often in another country! This real, physical presence combined with our extensive infrastructure enables us to offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee on all of our services.
Unlike many of our competitors we have chosen not to join the bandwagon of "unlimited" or near-unlimited hosting. We believe in absolute transparency and will only offer services which we can fulfill rather than offering ridiculous allocations of diskspace and terminating the service of anyone who actually uses it! Your hosting will never be suspended for any spurious reason such as exceeding an arbitrary CPU quota or for any use of the service not specifically prohibited by UK law or our standard terms and conditions.
Ethos and Corporate Philosophy
At Tsohost, our entire business model is based on customer service and client retention.
As a smaller hosting company without the multi-million pound marketing budgets of our larger competitors we need to ensure that those who do sign up become long term customers. This ensures continued growth in an extremely competitive market.
Part of this customer-focused attitude involves listening to customer comments, suggestions and concerns and acting on these wherever possible. If you don't understand a response from a support representative, any of the information on our website or our terms and conditions, please let us know and we'll endeavour to make these more user friendly. Similarly, if there is a feature you would like which isn't currently available, please let us know or post on our forums to discuss with other users.
Server and Network Infrastructure
Tsohost's hosting network (Autonomous System #35732) consists of a multi-vendor combination of switching and routing equipment from Cisco, Juniper and HP.
To provide the utmost reliability, we do not rely on a direct upstream provider for our internet connectivity. Instead we "Multi Home" with gigabit connections to multiple providers into our own routers. This means that your websites and services will continue to be available even if one or more of our internet connections is disrupted.
Electrical supply is of course critical to the provision of internet services. The carrier neutral datacentre facility we chose provide us with a 100% power uptime guarantee. This is made possible through UPS and generator backups. Should there be a power outage, the battery backups will immediately take over the load and will continue to power the facility for upto 30 minutes. During this time the backup generators are started. These can continue to power the facility almost indefinitely due to 24 hour refuelling contracts until mains power is restored.
Our datacentre facilty is manned 24x7 by technical and security staff. CCTV is constantly monitored and recorded, both inside the facility and around the perimeter fence. Access is provided to authorised staff only.
